I have received excellent care from Guilford Medical Associates. In fact, I have 'followed' my provider from another office to this office, simply to be able to stay under her care over the years. I have nothing but the best to say about this group. Top notch. Personal care. Prompt responses.

The area has no private practice doctors, so the hospital and associated clinics have a sort of monopoly for themselves which enables the clinics to charge ridiculous prices for almost no work or treatment, and no doctors.

So, although I live literally feet from this clinic, I would rather travel an hour to Bangor, or 8 hours to New York, than use any of them.

I went in looking to get a prescription refilled for my foot. This was not for any kind of mind altering or dangerous drug, just something my podiatrist in CT had prescribed for me. In the end, after really pressing the receptionist for some honest answers about pricing, I realized that what would cost me between $0 to $35 to have done in CT would cost $350 there. For some reason, "making a chart" for a new patient costs hundreds of dollars, even though the patient fills out all the forms and all the clinic does is put it in a manilla folder and file it. So, I left.

I had a visitor that stayed at my house for a while, and she insisted on going to a clinic because of a pain in her shoulder that turned out to be simple tendonitis. I warned her she would get shafted by the clinics, and in fact we visited 5 clinics in Guilford and Dover, and none of them would see her unless she went through the expensive process of "making a chart" at the local hospital. So, for something that would have been a simple visit at a private practice involved a frustrating and extremely expensive trip to an emergency room.

I spoke with my other neighbors (most of them elderly) that live within 2 minute walking distance of this clinic and none of them use the clinic. Instead, they travel at least an hour to Bangor or Waterville to get better service at a more reasonable price.

This particular clinic doesn't have doctors, just RN's and maybe a physician's assistant.

I live on the same street as this clinic, so it would have been convenient to use it, but it's unusable.
